This page states how work is read, edited, credited, and corrected on the CIMEGS Writers platform. It applies to every piece published here, whoever wrote it.
Review
The editorial team reads every submission. A piece is accepted on four grounds: it falls within the Institute's fields, it says something of its own, its argument is clear, and its claims are supported.
Editing
Accepted work is edited for clarity, length, and house style. Where an edit changes the substance of a sentence, the edited text goes back to the author before publication.
Originality
The platform publishes original work. If a piece has appeared elsewhere, or is with another outlet at the same time, name that outlet when you send it and the editorial team decides on that basis.
Sources and attribution
Quotations are attributed, figures are linked to the source they come from, and any work that is not the author's own is credited in the text. Images and charts carry a credit line.
Artificial intelligence
Tell the editorial team when a generative tool has helped produce a draft or a translation. The author named on the piece answers for every sentence published under that name, whatever tool assisted the writing.
Corrections
A factual error is corrected in place and a dated correction note is added at the foot of the piece. The address of the piece stays the same.
Rights
The author keeps copyright in the work and grants the Institute the right to publish it here and to keep it in the archive. An author may republish a piece elsewhere with a line crediting its first appearance on this platform.
Signed work
Each piece expresses the view of the writer whose name it carries, and the Institute publishes it as signed work. Statements that speak for the Institute appear under the Editorial Board account.
